Yay or nay?
I would say "yay". People change because heart-breaking. To be better, or to be worse. It depends on those people, how they can pass it. Though people always refuse "heart-breaking", however this "pain" can make people change; their mind, their attitude, and any-their-more. Make they stronger, or weaken.
"If you afraid to 'heart-breaking', just don't fall in love"
